Mountain of Memory

I love being creative. It gives me a sense of purpose.

You take something ordinary, something people take for granted, and you make it special. And that’s the thing, it’s special, to you. Maybe people won’t appreciate the effort, won’t appreciate the art, or might not even understand it. And that’s fine.

What matters, is you executed a thought process, you materialised a concept, that wasn’t there before. You took the initiative, and you tried something, no matter the outcome.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I agree 100%.

Imagine if everyone liked the same things, and everyone had the same tastes. Life would be bland. No one would innovate, no one would experiment, improve, enhance. Why would you, everyone likes everything already, so why change it?

Imagine how depressing that would be.

God gave you intellect, and he gave you an appreciation for beauty, an innate ability to value the world around.

I’ll end with a quote from a Youtube video by Tom Scott, where he says:

“All the things that we create, whether you have a big audience or you’re making stuff for the folks close to you. Sure, maybe the things you make will be forgotten. Or maybe the things that you create will be laid down as a long term memory, and affect them later on in their life. So, make nice things. Try to give them something that they’ll be nostalgic about. Not something they’ll flashback to. You never know what impression you might be making for the future.”

So go forth, and make nice things.
