Jenga Blocks

I’ve been away, eating humble pie.
In my previous post, I said we were rolling into the 20s. The roaring 20s. I spoke about how this could be just like the roaring 20s of the 20th century- the 1920s.
1920 saw the start of The Depression (not the Great Depression, that would come later) and the onslaught of the Spanish flu continued, right until December 1920.
The roaring 20s, then, is a state of mind.

Bring locked in, quarantined- means you’re alone. Alone with yourself. You’re pitted against your mind, and escape is futile. The internet is fun until it isn’t. Eventually, you’re going to have to look in the mirror and face that which festers within. And that’s when you smile, thrilled with the man you’ve become. Everything you’ve built yourself up to- you’ve achieved. Yes. You have made it. Everything is what you want it to be. You’re comfortable. Hey- is that the intro song from friends? It is! Netflix autoplaying the next episode. Haha, classic Netflix. Knows me so well. Quick, snatch that hastily buttered toast from the countertop. Throw the teabag out, and make haste to the couch, you can’t miss a second of the episode- there might be something different from what you’ve seen in your previous 9 rewatches of the series. Laugh track. Hahaha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Joey is so cute. Oh, Chandler you funny thing. Ross is so stupid haha classic Ross. Hours turn into days, and days weeks. Sunrises, sunsets. No work? No problem. No internet? Now that’s a problem. Thank God the internet is stable. Imagine if it wasn’t. You’d die haha omg imagine, that would be so bad lol. Good for you man, life is good. Quarantine, more like Quarintime of my life
Or you look in the mirror. And you face that which festers within. You stare it dead in the eye. And you see you, for what you truly are. There’s no one around you, the mask can come off now. And so can the gloves. No holds barred, it’s just you and your mind. Locked in the same room together. Only one can leave. Only one can triumph. You’re strong mentally, but all that does is tip the odds the other way. You set off on a journey, right there on your couch.
And that’s when the Jenga blocks come crashing down.
