Desert Skylines.

Life is routine. Everything is done by the clock. Wake up at 7. Work at 9. Home at 5. Stop at the supermarket quick- need some bread. 8pm. TV show is on. 10. Getting drowsy, work tomorrow. Sleep at 11. Wake up at 7.

As much as you try to break the cycle it’s just not possible. We need a system to function. With order and scheduling, we lose all sense of productivity. We cease to improve, and that’s when boredom sets in, and then depression. An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.

That’s why hobbies are so important. More than just a distraction, it’s almost a saviour of sorts. It’s an outlet, a form of expression. Different people do different things. Some write. Some sing. Some draw. Some paint.
And some drive.

Most people don’t understand the attraction- the pull- the draw- that is driving. And driving fast. Done with the necessary precautions (I believe) it’s not foolhardy, it’s not suicidal. It’s meditative. Therapeutic even.
The world melts into road and barrier, you are at one with the car. The worries of this world become white noise
The track becomes a tunnel, and you going and going faster, faster…
