Empathy.

The affinity that animals are able exhibit is an instinct immensely unrecognized. Be it the compassion of the lioness to her cub, the melancholy of an elephant years after its own has been lost to poachers; the affinity of panda cubs.
Animals, just like human beings are capable of so many emotional levels its almost unbelievable. Except that its not. We can observe it all around us. The ant dragging its injured brethren back to the nest, the bird bringing back food to hungry beaks. Yet we chose to be blind to it. And drastically contradict it.
There is no other species on the face of this planet that crushes, consumes, raids, plunders and annihilates like the human being.

Ponder the case:
Paint this perspective on that canvas called imagination:
You are a starman, waiting in the sky, who told us not to blow it
Cause he knows it’s all worthwhile
But it seems too late. Because to you, Starman, these decadent beings called “humans” are seemingly rampant genocidal maniacs that thrive on suffering. Globally killing about 74 billion animals every year (primarily for their meat industry). This means that every 1.5 years, more animals than people have lived in the entire 200,000 year history of humanity, are killed. Slaughtered for the amusement of the masses. To feed the belly that is never full.
Go home Starman, This planet is broken.

I don’t mean to come across as self-righteous, its just that this situation that we’ve trapped ourselves in needs to be made much more apparent.
The compassion and respect we once had for the creatures of this temporary dwelling we claim to be ours- needs to be revived. As children we grew up loving all things and all beings, but as we journey from the cradle to the grave our compassion diminishes and greed intensifies, until one day, its all gone. We are capable of so much, yet we misuse our potential.
We need to be the difference.
The change.
The outliers that stands out, like beacons in the smog.

Be the lighthouse on these shipwrecked shores.
