This is the optimal ride height. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.”
Car culture has always been a form of expression. A canvas. It’s loud it obnoxious, but it’s personal. Take this picture for example. The lowering of the suspension, tyre width expansion and the deep camber of the wheel is a modification known as “slammed” and I hate it.
It’s just so stupid honestly. You loose all basic fundamental functionality of a car. It’s barely drivable. You have to drive over speed bumps one wheel at a time at 1km/h. Your rims rub the wheels well. Curb rash damages your rims. Tires fade unevenly and quickly. It doesn’t even look that good to anyone over the age of 14. It’s pathetic. But that’s what makes it so unique. That’s what makes it custom, the sheer daftness of deliberately worsening your car to look better- form over function- is what makes this whole practice so appealing. To the outsider, its lunacy. Nonsensical. But it’s what sets us apart, unites us. We may not share the same opinion, same mindsets, but we’re cut from the same cloth.  We all want to stand out. Individuals. Because deep down, we know we aren’t that different at all. We call the same food different names, we lie on same beds in different homes.

It’s like we’re all living the same lives just in different bodies. We should take comfort in the fact that the man waiting next to you at the red light, the waiter at the restaurant, the professor at university. We all want , we want job safety, we want contentment. We want to be happy. There’s so much more out there, so much to accomplish, so much so much. But we get caught up in the small hindrances and those anchor us down. Stunt our growth. Keep us in the same daily cycle. Living, but not really. Barely leaving out comfort zone, just trying to make it to the end of the day. Week. Month. Semester. Year. Life. It’s not enough. We need to strive for more. The human is capable of incredible feats. Don’t be a background character in someone elses dream, be the main character of your own reality.
